Hey everyone! So I live in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica now with my squad.

I just wanted to give a quick update on what’s been happening since we left Guatemala.

In transition to leave Guatemala we had debrief on the last week of March, where we spent time as a squad in Antigua at a hostel (first time at a hostel too). Debrief was definitely a perfect time to just unload and intercede for this next season in Costa. It also happens that my birthday landed on the last day of debrief which was also our travel day.

Now we’re in Costa Rica!

It is definitely an opposite atmosphere from Guatemala for sure. We came at the start of rainy season, where as in Guatemala we only saw it rain 2 or 3 times because we came in their dry season. We live in the jungle portion, lots of green and humidity to make up for 3 month of barely any. Our weekend/sabbath is not your normal days, instead of Saturday and Sunday we have Monday and Tuesday off. This has definitely thrown our squad for loop, adapting and adjusting to an entirely new schedule and method of living and doing ministry.

Fun Fact: We are actually living on a YWAM base! Pretty cool, right?

I have learned so much about YWAM and AIM’s relationship to partner in ministry, creating more opportunities to reach different areas, mix up methods, work with young adults from across the world that are all pursing a heart of ministry.

We had the privilege of getting to know two YWAM groups so far in our time here at there base.

Ministry!

We have been able to do a little bit of everything here in Costa. Clearing part of the jungle on the base to make room for more houses. Sports ministry, going into a community and inviting any and every kid to come join us to play soccer, baseball, or even volleyball. Beach clean up, which we also pair with evangelism some days. Youth ministry/ Youth nights, super fun to invite youth from this community to their local church for games, testimonies, worship, a message, and plenty more games. Also partnering with the same local church to lead services, share testimonies, lead worship, and serve in any way we can.

As you can see we keep pretty busy here, but it is definitely a bonus living 2 miles from the beach and plenty of adventurous things to do here in Costa on our off days. Costa Rica is a beautiful place full of color, life, music and culture.

God has shown me a best of both worlds but also the fight to bring people to his kingdom. Me and my squad have experienced a level of spiritual warfare that has challenged us to be steadfast and dressed in the Armor of God at all times. I am thankful for God’s goodness and faithfulness to us, in not only this new season but our last season of the Race. I pray that we can remain more preset then ever and give every bit of excellence we can into serving the communities of Costa Rica.

Thank you to all my supporters spiritually and financially, seeing your comments and responses to what I am experiences on this journey are so affirming and bring joy to my soul. I love you all so much! Stay tuned for more stories and testimonies of my last month and a half in Costa Rica!!

Pura Vida!

  1. Great update! Sounds like a time of refinement and drawing close to him no matter what. Glad to hear you have some normalcy with the beach. Love the updates. Stay strong and dig deeper. Love you!

  2. Kayci, so good to read this and know the Squad is adjusting to living in Costa Rica. And the ministries, WOW! Looks like there’re plenty of opportunities to share the love of Christ. Continue to seek the Father and act on His voice in your life.
