Seriously did you know God can show up anywhere? Literally anywhere. Even a railroad in Dequincy, Louisiana.

It’s crazy the places you find when walking to a grocery store haha. Me and my squad had walked to a Brookshire Brothers a few times since arriving in Dequincy, but the cool part is that we found this cute park by the railroad so we obviously had to play on it.(imagine a bunch of 18-20 year olds playing on a playground, hilarious for sure) Of course we had plenty of fun so the next night came along and we’re all in agreement to go back. My squadmate Josten felt like we needed to take communion as a squad and pray over the town of Dequincy as hurricane Delta was approaching. (By the way, my squad and I love have communion together) So we picked up so grape juice and donut holes aka bread, and headed to the park. Little did I know the Lord had something planned.

Fastfowarding to our squad taking communion, I had noticed a man on the roof of the railroad museum next to the park and I was thinking how crazy it was that this man was out at night, in the dark trying to fix this roof enough before this hurricane came. We started praying for this town and my prayer shifted to this man on the roof, I just couldn’t get it off my mind. I asked the Lord why was this on my heart, in that moment I felt the urge to go and pray for him.

I asked the Lord I don’t know how many times in a short moment. His response each time was yes. Then I said “okay God, I’ll do it.” So I walk over to my squad and asked them to pray and intercede with praying for the gentlemen on the roof. After a few minutes I asked the people who felt the Lord also put these gentlemen on their hearts to come with me. Before we walked over there I had been praying for the Lord to just reveal what I needed to say to them and that this was not out of my own motives but a direction from the Lord. The song New Wine by Bethel Music was playing, the lyrics “you are making new wine” kept replaying in my head and God said “I’m pulling new wine out of you, and out of your obedience to me.”

I definitely couldn’t not go pray for the gentlemen working on the roof. So we walk over to the railroad museum right next to the park and I ask the now 3 gentlemen I see if me and my friends could pray for them. They said yes, one of them was more eager then the rest.   Which made me even more excited to pray for them. So we circle around them and I start to pray over them speaking Gods protection, and outpouring of grace and love over them. He also reminded me of the story of the 99 and the 1, that He was leaving the 99 for these guys, that He would be there for them.  A few of my squadmates also spoke prayers over them. Before I was going to close in prayer another person starts to pray, this time it wasn’t one of my squadmates but one of the gentlemen we were praying for!! How cool is God?? The gentleman was thanking God for having this encounter with us!!!

Through all of this I was constantly reminded that I don’t have to have it all worked out. God wants us to trust Him and be obedient in the random moments.

I have truly loved how the Lord has shown me obedience and trust in these past few months.

I love that I can share these beautiful moments with others,

Always keep a smile:)

  1. What a powerful reminder if we step out in faith, our Heavenly Father will meet us and give us what we need to do what Is being asked. Thanks for sharing this story!

  2. That’s awesome! Those men will remember that day, the day God sent them people to pray and encourage them!!!
